TIFFIN, OHIO – August 4, 2023 – A Tiffin tradition is coming under new ownership. The Clover Club, a local institution that has been a part of the community for 87 years, announces it will be passing the torch to new ownership.  Randy Waire, a longtime Tiffin resident and owner of Champs Barber Shop, will be the new owner of the Clover Club, adding a new chapter to the restaurant's storied legacy.

Waire has been working closely with the previous owner, Sharon Gosche, for a while, putting the final touches on the sale of the Clover Club, which she has successfully owned since 1997.   Keeping what the Clover Club stands for, Waire affirms that the menu will remain unchanged, continuing to feature the dishes that have won the hearts of Tiffin's residents for years.  However, Waire plans to introduce an exciting Irish pub flair to the Clover Club by incorporating a selection of enticing new menu items and a range of specialty drinks.

The Clover Club's rich history dates back to its grand opening on June 5, 1936.  The building, constructed in 1893, was the original home of Dehmer & Sons cigars and then later became a soda shop.  With the utmost respect for tradition, Waire has plans to commemorate the bar's original inception each year by hosting an annual celebration on this significant date.

Randy Waire stated, "The Clover Club has a rich tradition, and I can’t wait to keep it going for years to come.  I want to thank Sharon for giving me the opportunity to purchase the Clover Club.  It is truly an honor and privilege to take the torch from a Tiffin legend."

Previous owner, Sharon Gosche, expressed her sentiments saying, "I didn’t want to sell the business to just anyone.  Randy is that person who understands the legacy of the Clover Club and this community."

Mayor Dawn Iannantuono congratulated Randy Waire on his future venture, stating, “It is great to know that the Clover Club will continue to be a valuable asset to our downtown experience.  Randy has shown his dedication to the revitalization of Downtown Tiffin for many years and we know this will continue for years to come.  I would also like to thank Sharon for her commitment to the Clover Club’s legacy and her involvement with our community.”

In addition to the Clover Club, Randy Waire will continue to operate his acclaimed Champs Barber Shop, which opened its doors in 2007, further cementing his dedication to serving the Tiffin community.

The Clover Club is located at 266 S. Washington St., Tiffin.  For more information and updates on this exciting transition, please visit them on Facebook.

About Downtown Tiffin

The revitalization of downtown Tiffin began in 2011, when a group of community members came together to form “Tiffin Tomorrow”, with the goal of promoting and encouraging economic development in Downtown Tiffin, and creating plans, programs and actions to ensure long-term vitality and prosperity.  In 2014, the City of Tiffin contracted with SIEDC to act as the downtown organization and “Tiffin Tomorrow” came under the SIEDC (now TSEP) umbrella as the “Downtown Development Board,” which serves as the governing board of the downtown organization. In 2015, Tiffin joined Heritage Ohio’s Main Street Program. For more information, click here.
