SMYL in the Spring

Image removed.Seneca Mentoring Youth Links (SMYL) has been pairing students with adult mentors since 2013, and has been steadily growing. Since its creation, SMYL has matched 50 student and mentor pairs, and has been able to host events for members. The support of the community is one of the reasons that SMYL has been so successful, and the most recent partnerships are perfect examples. As of January, students and mentors of SMYL, including those on the waitlist, will be given a free pass to the YMCA. These passes will  help provide students and mentors a safe environment in which to spend their time. Mercy Hospital has also offered its management team a unique opportunity: to work with SMYL and paid time off to do so. For a number of hours each week, the Mercy leadership have the chance to spend time with their SMYL child during their regular work hours. Due to this incredible growth, SMYL is still in search of mentors. Mentors may be older students or adults who are willing to be there to listen and build lasting relationships. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, or referring a student to the SMYL program, please contact Matt Coleman 419. 443. 0981 or mcoleman@ncoesc.org. Additionally, the annual Spring SMYL Spectacular- Ladies Night Out, is fast approaching. Thursday, March 31 the Spring Spectacular will be held at Camden Falls, doors opening at 5:00 pm. The evening will include a light spring dinner buffet, cash bar, drawings, and the addition of a few live auction items. Tickets for the Spring Spectacular may be purchased for $20 each; parties of eight may reserve a table. To purchase, contact Jill Gosche (jgosche@advertiser-tribune.com).
