Schumacher named first woman president of Tiffin University

Image removed.The Tiffin University Board of Trustees announced today that Dr. Lillian Schumacher, current interim president, has been named president of the university, effective immediately. Dr. Schumacher is the sixth president of the university and the first woman to hold the position in the institution's 128 year history. “Tiffin University and the City of Tiffin has been part of my family for almost 25 years,” Schumacher said. “TU is a great institution in a fine city and I am thrilled to continue its tradition of success. We have exceptional faculty and staff who believe in student success, a supportive and engaged Board of Trustees, and an exceptional diverse student body that expects the best from us. With these strengths, we can achieve great things.” Dr. Schumacher became interim president in January 2014. She has been with Tiffin University since July 2010, serving first as Dean of the School of Business and most recently as the Vice President for Academic Affairs. From her bio: Dr. Schumacher is a graduate of Allegheny College and earned two Master’s Degrees and Doctorate from Bowling Green State University. She has more than 28 years of experience in higher education and corporate environments in the areas of administration, program development, assessment, accreditation, teaching, management, strategic planning, budget preparation and oversight, staff selection and evaluation, having served in several leadership roles throughout her career. In the private sector, President Schumacher is a trained facilitator and executive coach specializing in the Emotional Competence Inventory (ECI), DISC Personal Profile Systems and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). She has consulted with both national and international companies. Although she has lived and traveled extensively in the Middle East, Europe and Asia, President Schumacher is happy to call Tiffin her home. She is active in her community and serves on the boards of the Tiffin Charitable Foundation, Webster Industries, the Seneca Industrial and Economic Development Corporation and the Industrial Management Council (Past President).
