CSXT and Norfolk Southern have lines running north-south and east-west. Many many not know that there is a 26 mile line running from Tiffin to Woodville called the Northern and Ohio Western (NOW) Railroad.  The NOW was purchased by the Sandusky County - Seneca County - City of Tiffin Port Authority (SSTPA) in 1998 and operated by Omnitrax, one of the largest short line railroad operators in North America. The NOW serves 8 customers and carries more than 2,600 carloads a year, and rail use is up from 2013 to 2014 for every user. Aggregates and forest wood products are the biggest materials shipped, and it serves great companies like Carmeuse, Ameriwood, and Laminate Technology. Carmeuse's Maple Grove operation in Bettsville manufactures Quicklime; Ameriwood's Tiffin facility produces ready-to-assemble furniture; and Laminate Technology makes custom laminated panels and parts for kitchen cabinets. Maple Grove Materials, Millersville Lime, and the Andersons also make use of the rail line. Omnitrax, based in Denver, manages 20 short line railroads with core assets in 9 US states and 3 Canadian provinces. A member of The Broe Group http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkvNcvxTjsw
