In only six months, more than $300,000 has been invested in 11 projects. Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz is pleased by the outcome. “In this situation, running out of money is a good sign; it means more people are investing in downtown Tiffin and improving the look and historic quality of our community,” he said. The Façade Enhancement Program was established in September of 2014. Since then, the City of Tiffin has invested $250,000 in 38 projects, for a total reinvestment in downtown revitalization of nearly $1.2 million. The Antique Warehouse, located at 56 East Perry Street, applied for the grant to assist with a $40,000 roof replacement project. The owner was awarded $9,783 in matching funds, the balance remaining in the Façade fund for 2016. Mayor Montz expressed his support for the continuation of the program in 2017. “We already have a list of interested property owners for next year and, budget allowing, the grant will return in 2017.” About the Façade Enhancement Program This City of Tiffin reimbursement grant program was started in 2014 and provides a 50 percent match of funds for eligible exterior improvements on residential and commercial structures within the downtown historic district, up to $10,000.
